A great recommended movie is Video Games the Movie, it goes into depth about the history of Video Games. But I think I’ll start out by mentioning a little bit of how video games began.

There are way too many systems and video game franchises to mention in this article. There have been many popular video game franchises just to name a few Among some of my favorite video game saga’s have been Halo, the Italian plumber Mario who I’ve watched evolve from the original Donkey Kong to today’s Super Mario 3D world. Video game evolution isn’t just about the consoles, improved graphics and visuals an important aspect of video games is the characters, stories and plots that we all get immersed into. There have been many forgotten systems like the Panasonic 3D0 and the Pioneer LaserActive Now we are currently into the eighth generation of video game consoles, the Wii-U, The Playstation 4 and the X Box One. I got a Playstation 3 in 2006 the first console with a built in Blu Ray disc player when it was first released and eventually I got an X-Box 360 and a Wii. In the beginning of the new millennium more consoles came the Playstation 2 which included a built in DVD player then the Nintendo Gamecube. Then I lived through the transition of the the Sega Dreamcast which I got on. I then went through witnessing the arrival of the Sega Saturn in 1994 and the Sony Playstation 1 and the original X box and the Nintendo 64. Turbografx 16 and SNES to The 32x and Sega CD. I’ve owned many systems over the years and have usually been an early adopter, watching the video game industry evolve from the 8 bit era of NES and Sega Master System to the 16 bit era of Sega Genesis

I have purchased to my estimation 200 plus video games and have played countless games in the arcade. And I will say that in 3 decades I’ve personally witnessed the video game genre evolve significantly. For Christmas 2014 I just got an X Box One last year I got a PS4 the year before that a Wii U. I can remember the very first console that I ever owned was the 8 bit Nintendo Entertainment System which I got in 1988 with Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt with the Light Gun. Just got done watching New Year’s rocking eve and just to think that I’ve been playing home consoles for almost 30 years now, I began playing video games in the 1980’s.
